The Goldmean family are built with a robust construction and smooth design, providing superior structural strength, corrosion resistance, and heat dissipation. The heavy-duty housing is made of high-pressure die-cast aluminum, which eliminates gas porosity defects through precise process control and the use of low copper HPDC aluminum alloy. This results in remarkable mechanical and thermal properties for the aluminum housing.
The luminaire housing’s excellent architectural stability offers robust protection against vibration and mechanical impacts for electrical and optical components. Additionally, the weathertight IP66 ingress protection for both electrical and optical chambers ensures that the luminaire is protected from dust ingress and water invasion from any direction.
To prevent seal fatigue and failure, the waterproof housing is designed with a pressure stabilizing micro-membrane breather. Two tool-less latches allow for easy access to the driver and wiring compartment, while the top housing that holds the electrical components can be removed for serviceability and upgradability.
The luminaire housing is designed with high thermal conductivity and superior convective cooling to ensure effective external heat management. The streamlined heat sink design eliminates the need for external fins, which can accumulate dust and debris. The self-cleaning aerodynamic geometry ensures consistent airflow for efficient convective heat transfer. The LED assembly features a metal core PCB that utilizes a high-performance thermal interface material (TIM) to minimize thermal resistance along the path from the LED junction to the aluminum housing. Additionally, the solder joint between the LED package and MCPCB provides excellent thermal fatigue/creep strength and improved reliability at higher drive currents.
Light Source and Optics
The Goldmean Series LED street lights come in various lumen packages, ranging from 2870 to 24720 lumens in warm, neutral, and cool white color temperatures. These lights can be scaled from 18 to 96 LEDs per luminaire, with two different milliamp ratings. The combination of excellent thermal management and super package-level thermal performance allows Cree/Osram LEDs to deliver an optimized blend of light quality and output under diverse environmental conditions.
The superior light quality, high lumen volume, and industry-leading lumen maintenance ensure years of hassle-free operation and significant energy savings. Precision-molded secondary optics enable highly optimized target illumination performance. The TIR optical lens produces Type 1 Short, Type 2, or Type 3 distribution with high uniformity and maximum column spacing. A tempered glass lens is sealed to the optical chamber for additional protection.
The Goldmean LED lighting system features a separate electrical chamber that provides thermal isolation from the LED engine, making maintenance easier. It uses 525mA/700mA Mean Well/Inventronics drivers for high performance regulation with low total harmonic distortion (THD) and a high power factor (PF). These constant current LED drivers come with a range of protection features such as overcurrent, short-circuit, overvoltage, and over-temperature protections. The lighting system is also equipped with robust lightning protection against multiple surges of up to 10 kV. An automatic circuit breaker further enhances protection against electrical shock. To simplify field maintenance, the electrical components are wired using quick disconnect harnesses.
The Goldmean LED street light offers a variety of dimming options, including both stand-alone and network protocols. It also has the option for photocell integration, which allows for dusk-to-dawn control. Additionally, a wireless control module can be added to the light fixture, transforming it into a wireless node for remote monitoring and control.
Mounting & Finishing
The Goldmean series LED street light features a multi-stage cleaning and chromating process for all aluminum components, creating a corrosion-resistant substrate. A TGIC thermoset polyester powder coat finish is applied to the casting surface to enhance durability against salt, water, and UV damage.
Goldmean is designed for both slipfitter or horizontal arm mounts and can accommodate steel poles with an O.D. of 48mm, 60mm or 76mm. An adjustable inclination mechanism allows for a +15° to -15° tilt in 5° increments with cast-in leveling guides.
